- DAN WALKER APPOINTED NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Board of Trustees’ announcement that Dan Walker had been chosen to be the next Executive Director of FOCUS expressed my own heartfelt desire that Dan lead this movement into the next generation. This is really good news. But why?

First of all, Dan knows FOCUS inside and out. As a young man at St. George's, Dan began to attend FOCUS and became a regular attendee. No boy seemed more open to what was going on, nor more eager to participate. Ever a competitive athlete he would throw himself into the games and activities with abandon.

Secondly, He has a naturally gregarious personality. He is warm, friendly, and welcoming. Yet this bonhomie masks a very sensitive nature. Dan spots those who are hurting, who hunger for a little extra attention, and who need to be brought along. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like Dan Walker.

Thirdly, Dan has never wavered from following Jesus Christ from the moment he consciously took that first step. Most importantly, Dan understands Grace, and lives by it.

Fourthly, Dan has a deep sense of calling to the FOCUS ministry. After years of volunteering as a leader, Dan joined our staff with the support of his wife Leslea (who teaches at Greenwich Country Day School) and began to develop the vibrant work we now have in Fairfield and Westchester counties. Under his leadership this Area has flourished, earned justifiable support, and fed a steady stream of students into our national programs. The joy of the entire FOCUS staff at Dan’s appointment has been deeply gratifying both to the Board and to me.

Finally, Dan is a man who knows how to balance family life and ministry. He is a dutiful and loving father and husband, a man of solid character whose faith commitment has stood the test of time, and a genuine friend to the entire FOCUS community. We welcome Dan to the challenges and joys of leading FOCUS into the future.
